Apartments: Axis Apartments
Axis apartments is a planned development of three, five story apartment buildings containing a total of 300 units off Lexington Road across from Headliners Music Hall and Distillery Commons. The 9.7 acre site backs up to the middle fork of Beargrass Creek and is currently home to a vacant warehouse. Axis contracted Land Design & Development, Inc. to use green infrastructure to control drainage and protect the creek area. In addition, LD&D provided the land planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering and surveying required for the development. For this project, LD&D had to design safe, useable parking in a floodplain to service the apartments while insuring the apartment buildings were also safe from any potential flooding. This was accomplished by the design of two parking garages under two of the three building to obtain proper elevation. The development is projected to cost 35 to $40 million.
